Mustaches and Men's Health
Did you know that prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among American men second only to lung cancer?
Prostate Cancer, will take the lives of roughly 27,360 men this year of the predicted 192,280 men who will be diagnosed.
This disease gets relatively little attention in the media and public eye, but with awareness, early detection and appropriate treatment, this disease could take far fewer lives than it does today and yet somehow we still hear little about it.
Here’s something good to know: Prostate Cancer is a treatable disease with a high relative survival rate.
Movember is an international mustache growing initiative held during November each year that raises funds (over $29 million since 2004 worldwide) and awareness for men's health issues, such as prostate cancer.
All of this is accomplished through mustaches? Well, mustaches and a lot of hard work.
The mustaches come out at ‘Gala Partés’ across the globe where men can show their flow, win prizes and party in the name of something good. Proceeds go to a partner beneficiary, which varies from country to country whether Australia, the U.K., the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Spain, or Ireland; here in the U.S. our partner beneficiary is the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
So go to the website, have a look around, grow a ‘stache or help a guy flow it once they grow it and do something good!
