Dressing Folks For Free For 20+ Years

Let's be honest folks, we can't just walk around naked.

The New York City Clothing Bank has been around since 1986 taking donations and distributing clothing to shelters and organizations all over New York, New York specifically so that people don't have to - walk around in the nude that is!

According to the New York Times, the donations amount to up to $10,000,000 annually and reach upwards of 80,000 people.

This is good in a couple of ways:

For one thing, people have access to clothes that simply weren't available to them, given their resources (or lack thereof) before.

For another, literally tons of clothing is used rather than being destroyed and disposed of as it would be otherwise... good deal.

Also, this is interesting: apparently, the Clothing Bank, which was previously being financed by NYC, stopped receiving that funding last year, however, despite the current economic climate Luis Jimenez, the director of the Clothing Bank, was able to get the warehouse that the Clothing Bank calls home to reduce the rent by a whopping $40,000!!

Good job Mr. Jimenez!

Clothes are important, without them we'd be cold, exposed and maybe a little more awkward...

The NYC Clothing Bank is something good for health, and for egos.
